You take a step forward and feel the grass squish beneath your feet, knowing the green will stain the tough skin. As you walk aimlessly, you raise your arms just a bit from your side and tilt your palms to face down, just enough that the tips of the grasses and sweet flowers graze your fingers. It tickles a little, but is more of a reminder of movement than anything else, which is welcome now that the sky’s light is turning from a blue that swallowed everything around you to a pale grey. The twinkling of the few stars yet out seem to perfectly synchronize with the chirps of the crickets and belching of the frogs as they call out to each other, “hello, hello, hello.” The sound of your steps and the movement of your limbs against the brush answer back- “hello, hello, hello.”
